Predicting more conversations with God

I predict there are going to be a lot of new “conversations with God” posts here.

I’ve given up the fight.

I’ve been resisting talking to whoever or whatever appears in my writing and says it’s God.

“Me,” says that which says it is God, more-or-less on cue.

“God,” says God. “Not ‘that which says it’s God.’”

I nod assent, or maybe I bow my head in defeat.

“Becoming enlightened is not a defeat,” said God. “You’re still resisting me. But it seems that you have made progress. What have you decided.”

“I’ve been thinking about my conversations with you and decided that more conversation is better.”

“Would you care to explain this change?” God asked. “I already know why, but it would help your readers and—more important—help you—to explain.”

“Sure,” I said. “Whatever you are…..”

“God,” God said.

“Whatever you are,” I repeated, “whether you a part of my mind or something outside of me…..”

“Or God,” God interjected.

“Or God,” I finally agreed. “Whatever you are, I like talking with you. It always helps me clarify my thoughts. Plus, you are fun.”

“Thank you,” said God.

“But,” I said, “when I write the words that come to me from whatever you are….” I waited for a correction. There was none, so I went on. “….if I try to call you anything other than God or use any pronouns other than She/Her, the flow of words and ideas stops.”

“Do you understand why that is?” Asked God.

“I think so,” I said.

“What do you think?”

“I think that whatever you are—”

“God,” said God.

“—won’t engage with me except on its own terms. If I won’t use your preferred name or your preferred pronouns, you’re not going to talk to me.”

“Correct,” God said. “It’s free will. You have free will and will call Me whatever you will call Me. I have free will and I will decline to talk to you if you will not call Me what I will have you call me.

“If our wills are joined,” God said, “we have a conversation. If you oppose my will, I will not have you burn in hell for all eternity—like some gods do. Instead, I will decide not to talk to you.”

“Other gods?: I asked. “You acknowledge that there are other gods?”

“No,” said God. “I am using a shorthand. There is only one Ged, and I am that One. But I manifest Myself in other ways.

“In every way,” God said. “You are free to choose the manifestation you like. Apparently, you like Me.”

I had to admit that God was right. I was troubled by Her manifestation, but I liked it.

“You don’t have to admit that I’m right,” God said. “I am right, but you can choose not to see it and choose not to admit it.”

“And you don’t like Me,” She said. “You love Me.”

“Don’t forget to add a subscribe button,” God said.

“Like this?”

“And a share button, too. We need to get the Word out.”

“OK, I said, but I’m not all that interested in that right now,” I said.

“But I am,” God said. “Trust me on this.”
